I was reading about knives tonight (no surprise there) and saw picture of a knife that was described as a “Hoyt Buck model 117” from 1946. It seems like it has about a 3” clip-point blade, appears to be a bareheaded slipjoint, and was dated to about 1946. I read on another forum that Hoyt Buck may have made the blades and fitted them to old “lifeboat knife” handles. It looks like a pretty cool model, and to be honest, I would probably buy a modern rendition (or 10) if Buck were to come out with a production one in the near future. 420HC and wood scales would be fine by me. I certainly wouldn‘t mind if it were a lockback either.

Why is that a big issue? I've been using a slip joint pocket knife my whole life and still have all my fingers.
Not sure I understand your direction.
I clearly stated no lock.
And congrats on keeping all your digits chief.

I'd love to have a reproduction of this knife from Buck Knives. I would want it as close to original as possible (no lock, same style blade, same style handles) but stainless steel would be fine and a date stamp on the reverse of the tang to prove it was a reproduction. I'm definitely down for one! OH
