HR Giger dies at 74 after falling down stairs

Giger suffered from persistent night terrors, and he said that much of his art reflected what he saw in his dreams.

Wow he was a great artist. I used to buy a fantasy magazine as a kid and they would always have his art displayed on the cover. Falling down the stairs is a Crappy way to go also.

A friend of mine had a book years ago with pictures of a lot of his artwork. The book was several hundred pages, and if I remember correctly, it explained some of the motivation behind his work on specific pieces. On an unrelated note, when I read the title of this thread it was a bit saddening. Falling down stairs is can be terrifying for anyone regardless of age.

It was 1979 and while I had never saw any of his artwork prior but I did get the bejesus scared right out of me when Ridley Scott, Orion Pictures, a scantily clad Sigourney Weaver, accompanied by a stellar cast with a great story, with the unknown element of H. R. Giger's Alien! After I saw the movie I went to the school library and found a book about him and his art of airbrushed science fiction and sheer terrible and stunning beauty. Rest in peace sir.
