HRLM is the mini-SFNO

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the SRKW's HRLM is essentially a shruken down version of Busse's SFNO (Special Forces Natural Outlaw)? For some reason I just noticed the strong similarity between the two. With the popularity of the SFNO, I sure hope we see some more HRLMs. I need to pick up a few more.

Does anyone have a pic of both blades side by side. I don't own an SFNO, but my HRLM gets a lot of love.

I posted this over on the Busse subforum to see what they think as well.

In the same vein, the Ratweiler Chopper seems comparable to the SFNO to me.

Lunde, I'm trying to resist the Chopweiler and now you tell me that it's practically a SFNO, something I've been lusting after since I first saw it...

I need to have someone hide my credit cards...:D

How so Lunde? I haven't handled either one, but I know you have. To me they look very different, designwise. Could you elaborate for us a little? Thanks.

I am speaking in terms of overall size, blade width, and blade length. Their handles are contoured differently, which translates into personal preference of one over the other, depending on the person handling/using them.

I say we convince Eric to get the shop to stretch the HRLM blade to 6" or so and keep the rest the same. Bring on the SFHRLM (Swamp Force Howling Rat Little Mischief).

Isn't that the ratmandu? I don't have one but it certainly looks like what you describe. I keep seeing these chopweilers, I want to know when the RMD are coming back.

I'm not sure which post you are referring to about the RMD. I think you may see some more at some point, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I just asked about it and most agreed that the secondary market is the way to go right now.

In this thread I was remarking about the almost spot-on resemblance of the HRLM to the Busse SFNO. It's nearly identical in blade shape and configuration, handle is very similar. The only real differences are the lack of a front talon hole, two lobed skull crusher and size of course.

I was referring to stretching the HRLM out to 6 inches. That seems similar to the RMD. I sure hope they make more of those, especially in G10.

I see now. That said I think a stretched HRLM would be a little better for all around field use than the RMD. I feel that the sweeping belly of the HRLM would prove extremely useful for skinning game, where as the longer, less rounded belly of the RMD would make that a bit more difficult. The blade on the RMD is just around 5" so it's really not that much bigger than the HRLM to begin with. Just my thoughts.
