ok let me be up front here I am a huge ESEE fan but BUSSE/SWAMP RAT have always been a dream to own one and was wondering how the RC stacks up against the HRLM, they are almost excactly the same in dimensions. forget about the sheath and price and warrenty thing just how the 2 stack up in toughness. I dont want a brand war either just some thoughts on the 2 knives.

Brand wars are for those who are trying to compensate lack of confidence in their brand. The worst you'd get here is try one and you'll see. Folks here are a helpful bunch, so they would be happy to help you without talking trash (unless its funny, then they will talk trash for laughs).

I don't own either of those knives, and just wanted to say you might get better feedback if you posted in swamprat subforum. That should increase your chances, but a lot here own bunch of BUSSE kin knives and other brands so somebody might be of help.

i own a few esee knives and love them.i also own a few busses and swamp rats also.id say the howling rat lm is roughly the size of the esse rc-4.so thats what im comparing.the swamp rat has better steel and a very nice handle, much better than the rc-4.and is about as strong as any small fixed blade.takes a razors edge and holds it.and dont forget the awesome lifetime sw warranty.but this is only my opinion,im sure others would possibly disagree..

First off IMO, 2 great knives by 2 great american knife companies (I figure you are talking about the eese 4)...either I'd bet my life on. That being said the handles are very different. The hrlm has a bigger purchase. For me, it's a matter of personal preference and feel.

An example for me-I've had 3 Bark Rivers and will be selling the last shortly, well loved knives by many people- but I struggle with them in the hand. No biggee

ok I guess my question is more about the steel comparisons, I know both have great warranties and fan bases. the rc-4 is very affordable!! witch in my case is important. plus they have great sheaths included. its just I never seen or know of any one with a swamp rat I would love to see one in person!

If you post a pic request in the Swamp Rat or EESE forums, I bet you'll get photos pretty quick.
