HS question?

Looking at perhaps a new BM 710HS. I know all the ups and downs regarding edge holding, corrosion, and such. My question concerns brittleness. Is this steel tougher than 154CM with side stress, or is it more apt to snap?

I bet if you try to pry with a 710, the lock or the pivot will give out before the blade will snap, in either steel. And those knives have a pretty strong lock and pivot

M2 is very tough, definately more so than 154CM. I've got the edge on my 710HS only a few degrees higher than the primary grind, it's super thin and I still don't get any chipping. I doubt you will have any problems with it.
