I was up late the other night watching one of the shopping channels, and they had their knife show on. They were selling a GENUINE METAL knife.!! They no longer even claim to use steel, only genuine metal, scary. Then the next claim is that you will get over 40 pounds of knives for less than $100:eek: ! I know I ran to the phone to order. LOL

yeah I saw that too not only are they real metal REAL METAL but the retail on each knife is 120 dollars but you get a entire 40 pounds of knives plus these 3 amazing swords that you can see the chrome chipping off on tv not to mention the huge gashes

My Sister got me 4 of such knives for Christmas. See the thread about what people got for Christmas.

I love that show!!! chipaway cutlery is crap, but i can watch those guys sell knives all night. Theyre just so dumb its funny. I once baught a bowie set from them when i was 16. They were so poorly made yet all of my friends thought they were gold. For the price of one of they're "Biggins" deals you can buy a Strider or busse. But i guess people would rather buy 20 knives for $20 ea. I guess people just get suckered by they're amazing sales tactics:rolleyes:
Anywho, if you can find the saturday night live episode where they mock the shop at home show, its well worth watching. Possibly the funniest episode ever!!!

I watched it one night. One guy kept saying "bowie" wrong, and everytime they would try to stick one of the knives in a piece of wood, they couldn't get it to stick. It was pretty humorous. Plus, in the middle of their ineffective sales-pitch they start talking about NASCAR.

Yeah I have to admit I turn on the "Knife Blow Out" HSN shows now and then if I have time. It is almost like a bad comedy show that is so bad it is funny!

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

yeah the Biggins deal seriously was more funny then george carlin that i saw i little bit before nah but hell it was damn close

My wife walks out of the room everytime HSN or QVC has those "knife specials".

I tend to be very vocal.

Gotta love the salespeople. They really are enthused.:)

One time they took a phone testimonial live on air.
Host:"sir how do you like you knives?"
Caller (in a southern accent): "They are a little flimsy and the lockbacks seem too thin"
Host (Cuts Him Off): Well if you dont like them, you can send them back they are covered by our full warranty.

I can't remember a time after that when they ever took live on the air testimonials.

What really gets me mad is they are such blatent design ripoffs. I wish i lived near their studios so i could organize an anti HSN rally right outside in their parking lot.

"The Kabooie Bowie Blow Out" lol It's usually all frost stuff too. I love when they try and show how sharp the knives are by cutting paper...thats just great...what with a sharp enough edge won't cut paper????!!!!

The one thing that impresses me about the guys on both the Home Shopping Network and Shop At Home Network is the sincerity :barf: :barf: :barf: with which they conduct themselves. You can just feel the love and respect that they have for their consumers (read: suckers);) ;) ;) .

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who loves HSN, that show is a hoot!
Not to mention some of the models/hosts they have(Mindy McCortney..YOWSA!!) are hot as a $2 ginsu.

...until I realized that the goons were either pathetically ignorant of their wares, or perfectly comfortable in entirely misrepresenting their products. Then I simply grew angry. That someone can get away with lying as flagrantly as these guys do, and that they can get away with it for an extended period of time, puts to question any notion we might have of consumer protections under the law.

You are looking at people that have zero regard for their customers. They couldn't care less if some kid were seriously injured by the failure of one their "knives". Then there are the constant allegations that these knives are somehow being sold at well below their wholesale price points. "What a great deal for deal for the flea market knife dealer." "Why these kinds of knives would sell for a thousand times as much at your local knife store."

These are simply lies garnished by means of the media that is used to communicate them. The people who fall for this bilge are probably thinking: gee they couldn't make those claims on the record in front of millions of people if it were not true?!? The more savy viewer would be quick to see that they are actually choosing their words very carefully, and that little in the way of an actionable claim is being made. For instance there is no claim that "Bowie A" sells regularly at 100 times the price I am offering it for, but rather, it is knives "like Bowie A" that sell at that price. None-the-less the implication is clearly there and the abscence of visible negative consumer feedback provides that claim with weight.

I would like to see these guys and the HSN that houses them handcuff and dragged away on Federal fraud charges. At the very least we should force them to issue a disclaimer every two minutes. Something to the effect of: "The information provided on this show is entirely for entertainment. We make no representation that any of what we have said is true or factual."

I wanted to add that the show practically amount to a defamation of knife collector's everywhere. People really think that knife collectors are as ignorant as the customers who buy the stuff on this show. Imagine trying to get a serious knife collectors show positioned against the legacy of the garbage the HSN is generating. Would anyone take you seriously????

Hey, you'd be enthused too if you found out you could sell a t*rd for $20. :)
