Hey room,

having a BT-SS on order (my first fixed strider :D ), I am now looking for a small blade for, say, an EDC/outdoor knife, and I am looking at the HT model. Couple of questions:

- the false edge (between serrations and tip)is unsharpened, right?

- though a smaller model, is this one also .25" thick?

Furthermore, all comments of HT owners or tips on other models for the above mentioned purposes are welcomed :)

Thanks, Chris.

Chris,
The answer to both of your questions is yes. The false edge is ground but not sharp. I dive with my HT all the time. For general outdoor use and camping the HT is great. Small but functional. I have an HT with blakc cord and SOE sheath for sale if your interested. Please contact me at striderknives@worldnet.att.net I'm a direct dealer.

Vinnie

Vinnie, Do you keep the cord on the HT when you dive? If you do, do you wrap and re-wrap after each dive or just freshwater rinse or soak it. I thought this blade would make a good dive knife, but had a concern about the wrap and possible salt corrosion. Thanks Ed Curry

Ed,
I just freshwater rinse the cord. I've dove all over the world with it and haven't had a problem with the cord. I've had the knife refurbished once because I rolled the blade after cutting a hardened steel chain in half. The things you have to do to convince people that a knife is strong as nails.

But to answer your question it is a great dive knife with no other maintance than any other dive tool. I have two left if your interested. One black and on tan.

Vinnie

thanks for the answers Vinnie. I'll keep it in mind, and have mailed you about that. Another question, if I may:

What is this? (pic from tad)

Is it a serrated hollow-ground MT? I think it is, but I'm not entirely sure..

Thanks again,

Christiaan.

According to the Strider web sight, the handle's of their knives are coated before the cord wrap is put on so that you would not have to unwrap, re-wrap when it gets wet, dirty etc... I would guess that the blades are not done the same way, because field knives are often used to prepare food when out in the field, and the better the corrsion resistance, usually the worse for your health. I want one of these to. Looks like a awesome all in one field knife.

the knife in the pic above from the TAD site is an MT-SS, i used to own it, i traded it to Shrike9 though, i had no real use for the spine serrations, but its definetaly BADASS.:D

Thanks Vinnie and all. Looks like a great dive knife. I just have to figure out the money part. Bought allot of blades lately. Wife a little pissed. EC :)

Okay, thanks everybody for your comments, helpful indeed. And indeed, it looks very badass..

One thing though, can somebody tell me if the MT in the TAD-picture above is hollow or flat ground? Silly question, I know, but I'm not entirely sure..

Thanks,

Christiaan.

No such thing as a silly question :)

The TAD pic of a MT-SS is one of the 'older' models with standard hollow grind. A lovely blade.

Of the Striders I have I always reach for my HT. Its one of my favourite Striders. Its small, light, concealable and packs a wicked punch. Plus the 'older' hollow grind HT makes for a great utility blade as well.

Good luck on your Strider shopping :D

Without a doubt it's one kick ass blade to be sure:D :D Me thinks it's my favorite fixed blade:cool:

Okay, thanks guys, I think I've got it now..

Leo, thanks, great pic too.

I can't wait for my BT-SS to arrive :D , shortly after which I suspect I will be looking for my next one, and both of the canidates discussed above are very tempting..

Christiaan.
