HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

I'm receiving this error whenever I use the search function. At least nine out of ten attempts return this error.

The error states: "This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying." and "Most likely causes: The website is under maintenance. The website has a programming error."

Is there anything that can be done about this?

I paid for a membership for the express purpose of having search capability. And the kicker is that even when I get the error I still have to wait a full minute before searching again! And my "second" search (and third, fourth, fifth, etc.) returns an error also! :jerkit:

It's very frustrating . . . . . . . . :grumpy:

I've looked at the FAQ. The only thing I can find that might be related to this issue is the fact that I'm using common words. I'm not trying to find a particular post, I'm looking for general information. I'd rather not have to wade through the whole site looking for all the threads related to a particular topic. That's what a search engine is for, and that's why I bought a membership.

IMHO it's kind of pointless to have a search engine that only finds uncommon words . . . .

I'll continue trying to finesse the search engine though, maybe I'll get the hang of it . . .

I'm using common words

Right.

You could use google (as explained in the sticky thread) to find every thread with the word "steel" in it but that would just give you a list of thousands of threads. Not very useful.

Try to narrow it down.

Do not use words like steel, knife, Spyderco, etc. It will overload the search engine with hundreds of thousands of hits. It may be a pain, but that's the way it is.

What are you looking for specificly?

Just a suggestion, but your title still says registered user. You might try going to user CP and joining the group corresponding to your membership level. Search might work better then.

Thanks for the advice. I was trying to find the bevel on a SOG Revolver. No big deal, it's certainly not vital information . . . . .

I really like this forum though. :D

And now that Basic Memebership is my default group everybody can see exactly what kind of cheap bastid I really am!! :p
