I lost my 9cm Hubertus with beautiful stag scales today. Fortunately, I lost it to my Father. My wife and I asked my folks to watch the kids tonight while we went out with another couple. We don't go out much, and it was the first time in about a year. My dad is in his Mid Seventies, and has a decent collection of Case and Camillus that he has been collecting for the better part of 50 years. He doesn't get into German makers too much at all, and not much other than US. Well, he asked me jokingly after he and my Mom arrived how much I was going to pay him, so I walked him over to a display case that I have with quite a few Case knives and a few Hubies, and told him to go ahead and pick one out, and he could have anything in the case. I thought for sure he would go for a Case Cheetah, or even a Trapper, but to my surprise, he picked the Hubertus, and of course after I showed him the leverlock and how it fired, he absolutely HAD to have that knife! Part of me was very happy that he chose it, as it was my favorite. I got him the box from upstairs, and gave it to him before we left, but he told me to just leave the box on the table- it was already in his pocket, and it was going to be his edc. Dang, how neat is that? Considering that he has battled cancer for the last two years, it made it even more special that he wanted something that I had to offer. Tonight, I made a promise to myself, that if I get that knife back someday after he passes, I will treasure it even more and pass it down to my son someday.
