I have always loved Harvey's Huckleberry. I just wanted to go ultra simple with this one.

Love it Peter
mine has Bark Elephant and is in line at Dunns for some scratching..but seeing how clean yours is I may just leave her Nude

The gold pins and gold D*E*A*N are subtle and elegant touches. This knife needs nothing more. Very slick piece.

The Huckleberry is one of my favorite Dean designs.
I really like yours Peter, as the gold adds just the right touch while keeping it clean and simple.

Here's another one, demonstrating some Steve Dunn engraving and gold inlay. Was in the Blade article "vest bowies" a while back. Wish it was mine.

I have always loved them as well.It could just as easily be called ultra classy as well.

Extremely nice,Peter. :)

I don't have any Deans,something I hope to remedy in '07.
Saw a nice Bowie on Les' site in sheephorn and I think Damascus.

Congrats!

I like the Huckleberry's too,but would like to see one with a double guard.Since Dean's El Diablo is the Flagship of my collection,I've always wondered about a smaller version of one.Taking the Huckleberry and adding the double guard would make it kinda like a smaller El Diablo, but with a shorter top clip.Definately a nice knife though Peter.I took a moment and checked out your collection on your knife page & I was Blown Away by it.You've got one of the Nicest Bowie & Fighter collections I've seen.

The word elegance is writen all over it! Super clean work and the lines remind me of antique Sheffield hunting knives.

Damn, Peter I don't know how I missed this post.
I take back my previous Christmas comment-I'm hoping this is like the 7 days of Hannukah. Seriously sweet steel.

I have the prototype for a knife about that size with a double guard. I think he calls it the Bourbon Street, but I'm not sure. Mine is pretty simple. 6 inch blade, pointy guard and straight morticed stag handle. The Huckleberry may be smaller so you can legally carry it in Harvey's home state..lol

As clean and crisp as they come, but I'm suprised you didn't go fot ladder pattern and damascus fittings to match the Bowie - send this one to me and you can remedy that:D

I believe Harvey only offers this model in carbon steel.
I assume to keep it pure to the original Rodgers design.

I believe that Senor Jones is exactly correct. But don't despair Stephen, I keep you in mind if I decide to part with it.

Me too!. :)

But, I love Peter's just as much for different reasons, it is as clean and elegant as they get, there's something so appealing about the cream ivory and the 18k gold pins, the words rich and lavish pop into my mind, and some Dunn engraving I think would make it truly extraordinary. I would also love it with the bolsters done by Bailey, it's a personal choice of course.

Here's a closeup of some of Dunn's engraving, and the ivory on the Huckleberry Kevin mentioned.

Ari,

I think that RAN goes into hiding everytime you post that knife! Just gorgeous!

There is an interesting variation on the bolsters for Huckleberrys that are not designed for future engraving. They are squared instead of rounded.

Here is an image.

Of all the well known maker's hunter pattern, the Huckleberry is my favorite - yes, over the Sendero or the Loveless drop point. I just think it's the purest form.

I believe the Huckleberry is actually a Bowie, even though it looks like a hunter.

Joseph Rogers originally designed it as a San Francisco gentlemen's dress bowie.
