Hudson Bay Available To Order

I tried using the better pictures by Padruig, but kept getting a message they were too large.

I’m really trying to figure out why I get a lot of comments to make larger knives, but when I do offer them there is no interest. I’m thinking there is just no real use for them, they just look cool.

I can understand your frustration. Big knives are tools that one will undoubtedly use out in the woods, it could be that a lot of the country is either snowed in or are just trying to get through winter. It might be hard to get excited about getting a new large blade to start bumming around the woods with.

But I also think you are on to something when it comes to smaller, more EDC sized offerings. I've seen collections being sold that are largely in this size range. Fixed blades that can be carried unobtrusively in lieu of a folder have a lot of appeal these days. Some of the most popular offerings from other makers are quite small and suit the pocket well with the right sheath.

I like big knives, I use the hell out of them and I will continue to be enthusiastic about them until either I am not or I get put in the dirt. The Hudson Bay in particular is somewhat of a niche pattern though. The historical nature of the style isn't going to have broad appeal and its somewhat chunky look may be off putting in a market where sleek refined lines are considered sexy. That said, I don't share in those sentiments, I think it is a fine pattern with curves for days and a history that I find rather fascinating.
