I got my 5" Hudson Bay from Stomper (JK knives) several days ago. However, rain and work and work and work and family (did I mention work?) kept me from giving this knife a proper workout.

Here is the knife and its matching sheath. I really like how John (Stomper) captured the period feel of the Hudson Bay design.

The knife is 10" OAL with a 5.5" blade of O1 steel thant has a 5.25" lenght cutting edge. The knife weighs 8 oz.
The handle is scortched maple that I sealed with 5 coats of Tru Oil.

As we started to get our fire materials ready, we found this character in the wood pile

The 5" Hudson Bay did a great job of splitting wood when batoned

It made fuzz sticks with ease

The sharp spine made the task of shaving fatwood almost effortless.

My hope for this knife was that it would be both a bushcraft knife and a kitchen knife. The 5" JK Hudson Bay did not disappoint. 1/8" thick and 1 7/8" high this blade is a great slicer with plenty of knuckle room.

I gave the knife a workout on some London broil and it slide through the meat and begged for another try.

This knife will be with me in the woods, the camp kitchen and the home kitchen. Thanks John.

Nice review. That really looks great with the smaller blade. Thanks for sharing.

Coll knife! I really like how the sheath and the knife look so good together, that's a nice piece you've got there.

Oh man, I thought you were going to carve up a london broil with a Hudson Bay AXE, that would have been badass.

Good review, nonetheless.

Nice review. Looks like we both found the knife that does first rate duty in house and camp.

Nice, and that steak well that looks delicious...I'll trade it you for can of tomatoes ;)

I bought an Old Hickory cleaver in hopes of modifying it. I may imitate this design. Cool.

Damn you and your pics, now I'm thinking that I really need one of those now ! LOL !!!

Great stuff buddy !

Ps Are ya sure about those measurement ? 10" overall with a 5.5" blade, that means the handle is only 4.5" and it looks to be much longer unless your hands are really small ?

Pit
the handle is 4.5" from end to end but is effectively longer because of the curve and it's thickness

I thouight I would jump in and post a 6" x 1/8" blade HB along with a B & T, both in oak with brass pins, that a customer ordered for his cooking set. He already has a matching A.P.C.K.

Ahh, you got me hungry. Just about time to go cook something up.

Thanks for the review, and pics.

Very nice knife!

This design is fast becoming one of my all-time favourites. I hope it serves you as well as its big brother is serving me!

All the best,

- Mike
