Hi all,
The mailman delivered my JK Fire Kit this morning. I ordered a Hudson Bay-style knife to match my big 7" HB, and I went for walnut handles.
It took about three seconds for me to fall in love with this little package of razor-sharp sparky goodness. The handle fits comfortably in my hand, and my thumb naturally gravitates to the curved, notched section of the spine. The fit and finish are great, as is the grind and the edge (shaving sharp!).
The sheath is sturdy but still compact enough to fit comfortably in a front or back pocket. I will definitely be EDCing this kit! The knife and ferro-rod fit snugly into their respective pockets, and there is no danger of them coming lose at the wrong time. The stitching is protected by welts all-around.
I'm going to take this baby for some hikes this coming weekend. Look for a review with fire-starting, fuzz-sticking and twig batoning
p) in W&SS by Monday!
