Hudson Bay Hunters Conversion

Have been wanting a gransfors hunters axe for quite some time. Just can't bring myself to spend the coin. Then thought that I could probably do something similar with a Hudson Bay pattern. So snagged a Council Tool and tried my hand at it.





Guess I'll have to wait until next deer season to see how it works!
 
What a smart idea, great axe! The GB hunter is the first axe I bought, and it has seen some hard use since a few years back!
 
Thanks. Just figured that with them being similar in size, it might work. I also need to do some polishing on the head altogether, as it looks like it was ground with 60 grit and then left that way. Any pointers on taking care of that will be most welcome.
 
I've never even handled one. Can't find a local place that can keep them in stock.
 
Yes, it is. They make amazing axes.
Okay thanks I've used older heads because back then blacksmith cared about doing the job right so I've just restored them all of them are amazing axes. But I never knew that granford brooks were a good company.
