I have a ML knives Hudson bay knife and a large leuku from Koyote knives, both about 7 1/2 inches long and wood handles. Which would you choose for an overall camp knife? I know that others have their opinions and different levels of experience and may want to add their thought of different knives, but I am trying to stay with theses two knives for this thread. If you have different HB or a leuku, and have used them, please feel free to add your thoughts. I was hoping this would be cool to discuss since I really like both of my larger knives.

I do not have a ML HB but have only heard good things about his knives. I do have a smaller Koyote Leuku, with a 5 1/4 inch blade and a wooden (Ipi ?) handle and would have no hesitation in using it as a camp knife. John

Okay, let's change it a little bit, what have you used your Hudson bay or leuku for in camping and if you want to include any pictures that would be appreciated.

I've got one of Matt's HB knives--it would make an outstanding camp knife. Can't help on the Leuku--I have a small-medium Koyote Leuku--but i'm guessing the Koyote would likewise make a good camp knife. I think a camp knife needs to have a sharp edge, enough heft to split kindling, and be dexterous enough to peel a potato. I love the original HB design, and Matt improved the edge geometry and balance.

If you already have both, then why don't you go use them and decide which one you like..............?

Can't say about the Leuku but can say about the ML. It's just about the stoutest blade I got and would definitely be a fine camp blade.
