I've been pretty into this pattern as of late and I'd love to see what awesome Hudson bay axes/hatchets you all have. Post 'em up!

Some of mine. Collins, L.L. Bean(Snow & Nealley), Plumb, True Temper, Hults Bruk Agdor, Peavey Mfg.

do you prefer the collins or the norlund?

They are about equal in use for me but the Collins has better polish and finish. The Norlunds were made late in US manufacture and show more grinding marks. Good steel though.

My favorites are the Peavey Mfg. top right and Snow & Nealley top left. That's an early S&N, not the later type that were more like the Collins at the bottom. Both those axes are pre 1925 and are more wedge shaped, only 1 1/2 pounds and more square than the later Hudson Bay styles such as Collins or Norlund.

The Collins. It has a little better shape to it.

The S&N's really went to heck when they moved production to China. They imported some real crap. No better than typical hardware store junk. But I've heard that they are moving production back stateside and improving the steel. I haven't heard an update on that lately. They might be having trouble finding a manufacturer in the U.S.
