Anybody know how the main lid and the cap to the burning lens fit on those? Does it just sit there, screw on, snap on etc.? I'm looking at these to be clear.

Edit: I just read that the main is friction fit, how bout the lens? Anyone have problems with them coming off?

It has a snug fit that just slides into place. It won't come off unless you are really rough with it.

I've done living history and used mine quite a bit over the years; still have one in brass and one in German silver. The cover to the box, which is designed to carry flint, a striker, and tinder, is friction fit. So is the cover for the "burning glass" as it was called; the lens inset in the lid. Very handy item for any respectable possibles bag! And no, I never had any problems with the fit on mine, or with it coming off.

I can't show this one off enough. I got this from Magnussen(Thanks again Rick). I don't think you will find a better made and thought out kit than this one.

I have two. One for at least 10 years. Friction fit with no issues. I cut an oval out of thin leather for the top lid and bottom. If you do that, your glass won't get scratched, and you can put your char cloth under the bottom piece of leather keeping it from getting busted up. Also keeps things quieter.
