If anyone ever reads my posts and wonders what it's like hiking with me...think of a small toddler and how short their attention span is, how they quickly they become distracted and move from one thing onto another but enjoy everything....that's me !

First thing that caught my eye today was this plant with it's huge leaves. I'm pretty sure it's Cow Parsnip and if it is then it's one to be aware of~

"The juices of all parts contain a phototoxin that can act on contact with skin and exposure to ultraviolet light, causing anything from a mild rash to a blistering, severe dermatitis, depending on the sensitivity of the individual."

About half way round the trail I headed off into the bush to look for a straight stick to make an Apache throwing star, before long I'd forgotten about the star and was checking other stuff out like this nest~

One of the eggs had been knocked out of the nest and was being eaten by ants~

Just glad to see you enjoying life and staying close to nature.

I try the same, out here on the East Coast.

"Flowers - raw. Sweet and delightful. Rich in nectar, they make a very attractive addition to mixed salads and can also be used as a thirst-quenching munch in the garden. "

Snicker was telling me it was time for her and Maisy's treats !

As I headed back along the trail I came across an old birds nest, I always hear that they make great tinder so had to try it out !

The sparks from my fire-steel kept hitting it and causing it to smoke but no flame. After maybe a dozen strikes the nest went up in flame but burnt out after only about a second. My camera was already on and the nest had burnt out before I could get a pic.......not what I call great tinder !

Thanks for the pics, Pit. I love the pics of Snicker and the giant leaves.

Pit, a new classic thread. Its got all the important components; great vegetation shots, your cute dog, and a fantastic Mark Wohlwend knife. Really enjoyed this one.

Pit, how long did you say you were going to be off work . . . 2 weeks . . .
You keep going out playing in the woods like this & your company will have to come and drag you back kicking and screaming when it's time . . . . :D
Great shots once again buddy, thanks for letting us tag along.
Be safe.
