I'm considering the purchase of a Hults Bruk Akka Forester's Axe. I'm looking for opinions from anyone using this.

My use is to pack this on hiking trips and use it to fell small standing dead trees or chop small downed trees for the campfire.

What attracted me to the Hults Bruk Akka Forester's Axe is the rare combination of a 24" length with a 1.5 pound head. Also the thin cheeks will penetrate when chopping. I'll seldom split wood with it.

I'm not personally familiar with that axe but it looks like it would suit your purposes well. HB makes good stuff. The size and weight make it packable.

Many of us have gravitated over to packing along folding arborist saws for that purpose. For years I camped with a small Swede saw (also called bow saw) for cutting and a small axe for splitting, barking and shaping but modern Japanese-type saws slice through dead or green wood like greased lightning. Forester axes are meant for limbing and pruning but ought to work fine for splitting duties when you're out on the trail.
Swede choppers aren't cheap but if one of these attracts your fancy it is your money. Wetterlings came up with an improved version of the Hudson Bay pattern not that long ago and that's one that caught my eye for purposes such as this.
Whatever you decide; better get the order in so it arrives before Christmas!

Yes, I have a Bahco folding saw and just ordered an ultralight buck saw (Bob Dastrude design). But for short treks into the woods, a light axe would be simply fun.

I can't argue with that sentiment!

I did it! Ordered, hopefully, in time for Christmas so that so that I can use it to chop up the Christmas tree after the holidays, LOL.

1-1/2 pound head with a thin bit on a 24" handle.

I actually wouldn't consider that bit all that thin, though it looks like the edge bevel is well formed.

I have both the Bjork and the smaller Gran Splitting axes. The large is great but the smaller is just out of this world. I have a stump on my porch for kindling etc ( rainy days) It's small and light enough for kindling but it can hang pretty good splitting larger rounds etc. I like that Akka looks nice.
I have a lot of vintage axes but these are great for new ones and give little to nothing up to the HB axes

My Hults Bruk Akka Forester's Axe came today. I'm very impressed!

The edge is sharper than most of my knives out of the box. The 1-1/2 pound head feels very light and seems perfect for the 24" handle.

My use will be as a pack axe and I think it is just light enough that I will actually pack it on many backpacking trips.
