So here is one I think I might of posted a pic early that I picked up at a flea market for $10 bucks. Painted red, crap handle, she needed some new life in her. Had the epoxy head - which was not a treat - and will be discussed. So here we go. Lots of pics - hope you enjoy.

So here is a pic of it - with a screwdriver for scale - it is a big DB head.

And then here is the ugly epoxy head - yuck

So I drilled the epoxy head out - and it smelled and was bad overall - it is in crooked - a mess. What was interesting was that below that - on top of the haft - was a concrete like coating that made 2 drill bits totally and utterly dull. I mean DULL. Never seen anything like it. I am not sure what made it that way - I can only think the epoxy head wasnt done correctly....

After I got it out - some of what was used and came out -

Get her cleaned up - didnt look that bad - some pitting but nothing too bad -

Found it a nice haft match I had around - lucked out

And final wide shot - I thought it came out nice overall, compared to the start -

So that was it on that one - took some time to get the haft out of the eye - but we got it done. My second HB, I have a single bit with paper label around somewhere.

Thanks!

Looks good all cleaned up. It's hardly been used. I'll never figure why someone would paint over a beautifully patina'd axe.

Weird. I've never seen or heard of concrete or masonry cements being used on an axe head. Why would they do that? Sucky deal on dulling the drill bits. :(

Got a Drill Dr.?

nice job operator! shes a beauty...

ive been thru a few of those damn eboxy's... what a pain in the ass they are...

that 'haft and head' seem to fit VERY well togeather! :)
