What can you tell me about this hatchet? I knows it's original and from the 60's.

Any further info?

It's what is called Montreal pattern and the head weight ought to be stamped on there somewhere in metric and imperial. Many or most Swede heads were painted blue or orange so I don't know what happened to this one.

It has features that I associate with later production stuff. Some kind of sealer around the bottom of the head and a flat slab handle. I can't say when HB started making them like that though. So if 4boys knows something about this axes provenance I might learn something here.

I bought it from a reseller and know nothing of its history.

It does have some kind of sealer around the bottom of the axe head and covering the top of the haft/eye.

An epoxy set hang is indicative of the 1980s when makers were trying desperately to remain competitive.

From what I understand most 70's Hult's stopped stamping "HB" and were just stamped "made in Sweden"

Agdor axes from Hults Bruk, stamped HB, are still being sold, new, by at least one retailer (example from Canada). Note the Montreal pattern and the wedges (no epoxy).

I have had a couple of those axes come my way, took some pictures and sent them to Hultafors, they said it was manufactured during the 80s

1000 gram or 2 1/4 lb Boy's Axe (or Pulpwood axe as they are known in Canada) I presume?

REI sold them for a number of years. I have two, one very small pack axe and one I guess you would call a house axe, fairly heavy with a maybe 15-inch handle.
