My son recently got a Hults Bruk hunting axe (Aneby) and I'd never even heard of the brand. I did a short search for the brand here and found a few threads. I did read the little booklet that came with it, which provides some history and user notes. That was nice. So, what is the general opinion of these axes? It seems pretty simple to me but my exposure to axes has been polly and plain wood handles, wedges and splitting mauls for splitting good sized logs. I have a hand axe that is made by some hammer company that uses stacked leather with a covering over it and use that from time to time but the handle is a little slick after you get sweaty. So, I'm pretty limited on knowledge about good quality axes.

I would like to own that hatchet. ^
My Hults is a 4 lb. ax from the 50's and has good heat treated metal. I use it often and I'm happy with it.
I think the hatchet you're describing is a Estwing. I own one of those and it has been a good one. Mine is 20 years old and still dependable. DM

The Aneby is from their premium line, hence the premium price. Should be a fine axe to own for a lifetime. I have a vintage hatchet and a new Kalix (boy's axe) and I really like them both. I am looking to get another in the 4-5 pound range.

You're thinking of the Estwing hunters axe.
They're classy looking, but I don't like all steel swinging tools.
