I had a request for advice on an anvil and don't know anything about the specific product, so I am asking you folks.

Has anyone tried the Huluwat cast steel anvils that Home Depot is selling now. They are made in the USA and come in 66# and 88# knifemaker pattern, as well as a 132# blacksmith pattern. Specs and prices seem really good.

Are you sure they are made in the USA? They have the Acciaio brand on the side, which is the same as the Chinese Vevor anvils on Amazon. I think Harbor Freight Doyle anvils are also Acciaio.

Looks like the same made in china ones on Amazon. The Home Depot page doesn't say where it's made, but the user manual they provide says "Made in China" and has the usual poor grammar from being translated. Plenty of people have done reviews on these. I see the 66# one all the time in person at events. I don't like them because they ring like a bell, as if they designed it to be the worst possible sounding anvil.

Anvil prices sure have gotten cheaper the last few yrs. I've been using an old beat up 70# anvil off the farm. Now I'm looking at this 110 lb Acciaio brand on Amazon, item # B0F18T1Z4G for $194 with coupon. I hear it "rings like a bell" - perhaps draping a chain around it? Comments on this anvil? OR, would a 66 lb be all I need for light bladesmithing?

OK, thanks for the info. I checked the HD website and it said USA, but the actual specs didn't say where.

Ken I have used the 66# Atlas bladesmith anvil for about 3 years now. It does a pretty good job but there are times I wish I had more mass under the hammer.

I was sorta thinking the same thing over my 70 lb anvil, so I placed an order for the 110 lb anvil referenced above. thank you for your comment.
