we are tying up some loose projects and getting ready for another push here at the humble Hawk Project.

remember the Mark V BUG Scratch, brethren? i finally got that finished - shown here with a protective Epoxy Vapor Coat....

...and here with a flat black finish, and wraps and hardware attached... right next to it is Robert H's long-awaited Mark V (second one built in the Mark V line), with an original (pre hole) Cold Steel Trail Hawk mounted.

we are also introducing a Teak version of our Faux Wood line that i am calling the "Teaky Tiki" - it is much darker than our Faux Cherry Heirloom, but I think it is going to look very slick with some leather wraps, or dark brown paracord, etc. i am going to make one for my Isnag Mentor with some tribal river designs on it, i reckon - wish me luck.

.........

As a lot of folks here know, we do what we can for the military - we can never do enough of course, even though many of our Investors have sent in contributions to help us get hawks off to WIA.

hawk investors have been 100 percent patriotic so far. some of them 200 percent. it make me proud to be their friend, and to be an American.

a hawk was recently ordered by a respected soldier and we couldn't deliver fast enough, so i took one of my personal hawks and refinished it, and it is going out to him immediately for his use until he gets his custom hawk. they are going to Afghanistan bravely next week or so, so thanks in large part to our investors contributions, this hawk will go to the first WIA on this tour, may he/she recover fully, and know that his countrymen love him for his/her sacrifice.

i wish i could give every WIA a hawk, to show all of our respect. we do what we can until then.

this is the hawk that is going out to our courageous brother. oo-RAGH, brother.

anyways, we are cooking as fast as we can here at the humble Hawk Project.

hope you enjoyed the update, brethren.

They look great! I took a Laguna hawk with me and it was a comforting item to have around at times.

I never used it as it was meant to be used. However, like a rabbit's foot, if it gets you through it's a huge plus!

Like your work and really appreciate the effort! I'm a big hawk fan and will keep an eye on your work. I think it's a tool that is often overlooked.

Awesome work as always. Love the look of the Teaky Tiki even more that the faux Cherry. Good on you for sending the soldier one of your personal hawks vec.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!

gimmie few mor months Vec, work is SLOWLY starting to pick up again....i'm going to order for march Bday!

Beautiful absolutely beautiful stuff as always Vec!

Just wish your waiting list wasnt quite so long!!!

Those longer handled hawks look MEAN. Do I ever want one ;)

Glad to hear about your support of our soldiers, and I know that I appreciate it. I saw the hawk you are letting that particular soldier use until he gets his custom hawk, and I must say its very nice. Good work as usual.

Really like the Tiki snake skin....
I agree: Support the troops and wish them all the Best....And a BIG Thank You !

after a couple month hiatus from bladeforums it is good to see Vec hawks evolving more and more. and to think how good they were before:D

figured I'd push this one back to the top of the pile. just got finished with an email conversation with Erica, and ordered my Mk 5. now comes the hard part....the wait.

we need a photo gallery of all the hawks done to date!

In that case, you probably should've ordered 3 months ago so you might get one in time!

Vec's work is in high demand (and deservingly so) and unless you can nab an "IGH" I wouldn't hold my breath...

:cool::thumbup:

we're going pretty fast in the Standards these days.

the Customs ones still take a little more time, but everything is getting faster, even though we are making a better product than ever IMHO.

hopefully i didn't just jinx myself.

my slowdowns in the Hawk Dungeon are from finding myself staring at the Mark V handles - they are just absolute monsters - it's almost a shame to put a head on them. they are a hair away from being Sectionals.

that's going to be exciting.

i get hypnotized by the dang things.

maybe i'm just dumb, but i'm not exagerrating.

most of our slow-downs have been due to things that were out of our control - we lost suppliers, the heads we got were poorly QC'd, etc. - the stuff we use isn't available down at the corner store unfortunately. we have beaten back most of those demons by now, but ya never know what's down the road.

i never realized hawking was going to be this hard on the nerves.

you don't want to let your brothers down.

that said, get ready for a big deal shortly - i got a whole bunch of experimental Mark V IGHs loading up in the slot with no buddy to claim 'em. - i try to change only one factor at a time when i evolve the hawks, but i was forced to switch some of the composite elements on the handles because a supplier went out of business - so i did weeks of agonizing research as i saw the last of my special resins going down the tubes, and then finally chose this resin that sounded too good to be true, after much agonizing.

so far its been outstanding.

Praise the Lord.

i think i am going to make some simple black IGHs, and some simple brown ones out of them. i'm gonna try hardening the ends too for some serious abuse that can only be gotten through throwing. we want you to be ready for as much as is possible.

i'm also thinking about making some short little ones with a Modified Rifleman's head on them - i don't know why, since i love proper hawks so much, but a 14 or 16 inch handle with a big gnarly war hammer head just makes me feel all giddy - must be the Viking in me, but THAT is what i would want to throw - keep the stinkin' hawk in my hand for close-in work with the drawn long knife....

imagine catching a Rifleman's Hawk in your teeth at a full gallup.

yeah, yeah, pictures coming...:D:thumbup:
