I keep my knives in my dads safe and I asked him does the humidifier still work and he says hes not sure. I have over 200 good knives. Just wondering if my knives are safe. Can they be hurt if his humidifier does not work. Plus I found a Sog flash 2 in the safe and the blade was all black now it got like a brown color on it!!!!! HELP

A humidifier adds moisture to the air, which is pretty much the last thing you want to do to a bunch of knives in long-term storage. A de-humidifier would be a better idea if you live in an area where the humidity is high. Out here in the near-desert, it isn't really a problem, but our humidity usually runs under 20%. Right now, the dew point here is 12 degrees F. Not much threat of condensation there.
