(Top row of photos basically)
Cleaned up the head with angle grinder and twisted wire cup, then filed/stoned the edges (something I am not terribly proficient at yet, but they feel pretty sharp). Measurements came out to 8.5in bit-bit, 3in tall through the eye, 4.5 inches at the bits. Forgot to weight it before hanging.
36inch handle from local hardware store. I know it's long and they had shorter handles, but the shape of them left a lot of empty space in the eye. Instead I bought this full length one, got it to fill the head pretty good (using my new draw knife!), and sanded the cheeks down to reduce the handle rubbing (while splitting perhaps). Sanded off what seemed like a little lacquer layer, then a few thin coats of BLO really brought the grain out. It's also a fairly thick handle (think sledge handle thickness), but it fits my hands well enough (6'3, 240).
This is my first double bit ever, and so far my best handle hang ( I think, time will tell!).
