Anyone seen this new teaser trailer for the new hunting knife from Benchmade? Maybe this is old news, but it's new to me and I'm excited! I've heard through my dealer that they're dropping the bone collector series and this certainly looks close to the 15005 so I'm guessing he's right. http://hunt.benchmade.com

Yea it's just what I've been looking for. Just need it released and know the price.

At first glance, that knife looks very similar to the Sibert Bushcraft knife, with different G10 handles. I hope it's not the case, reimagined with different scales.

A lot a hype in the video and just a flash of the knife.Seems BM is focusing on the marketing aspect of the business in my opinion. As a hunter i wonder how this new model will stack up to the one in M390 I that I use and was produced in Gettysburg, PA?What will the MAP be for this model?Specs? Steel?Sheath?Possible answers after Shot?

Blade is very similar to the bone collector.
Did I see a guthook or not?
I loved my 15010 Bone collector in D2, even though im not a fan of sharpening recurves.

No specs, no price not even a real good look at the knife. Looks more like a movie trailer than an advertisement. This kind of foolishness combined with their recent MAP policy sure is a departure from what they have done in the past.

They really need a dedicated hunting knife. There is a huge market for them as long as it is well designed, holds a good edge, and isn't over priced. Not a tactical/survival knife that can also be used as a hunting knife. A true hunting knife... Ironically. a truly well designed hunting knife CAN actually be used for other purposes, but it's not always the case, the other way around imo.
I know there are people that will disagree, but hopefully they don't put a gut hook on them. To me, it ruins a well designed knife. I guess for marketing purposes, it would make sense to offer both styles though.

About 10 years ago or so, I bought two new BM hunting knives. A 190 and a 191 IIRC. They were nice knives, and actually had a nice leather sheath.
They weren't a perfect knife, but non are. I gave one to a good friend that is an Elk guide in Idaho, and ended up selling the other, because I still hadn't found my perfect hunting knife. Like that actually exists lol...

The Bone collector knives weren't bad, but it was hard for me to take them seriously, with the stupid image they put on the knife.

Correct. It is basically the 15005-1 without the Bone Collector logo. Makes me think there's some truth to the rumor that Benchmade is discontinuing the Bone Collector series.

As for Benchmade needing a dedicated hunting knife, that is basically what the Bushcrafter is, along with some of the Lone Wolf line. They just need to bring the LW knives up to spec with top steels, and they'd already have good hunting knives.

Ya, the Bushcrafter isn't a bad looking knife. The Lone Wolf Hunters weren't bad looking either. Not sure how good the steel was, but they discontinued those knives anyway...

Just slightly aside; it's too bad the original Lone Wolf company went out of business. Re-branded with name changes and cheaper materials was a fine idea, but the "Pre-Benchmade" versions of the Longhorn and smaller Blackfoot were far superior in comparison. With S30V blades, rounded spines and amazing fit and finish, those in the know seek these out as very special knives.

They're out there, but now in the $200+ range...and worth every penny.

Agreed. The original LW's were great knives. It was a shame that the quality was lowered to the 30-40 dollar knife category. When I first heard BM had bought LW, I really thought they would continue to offer the same quality and models that LW had been producing.
They had some great knives, and at the time they were priced decent too.

Alright so the shot show is upon us. I saw a video of the new hunt collection but they barely talked about them nor gave a close up of each model. They look like all the bone collector models just without the logo. I wonder what kind of steel theyre going to go with. The only thing they said was that the knives have a composite handle called diamond wood and some will come with the option to have a kydex vs leather sheath. Which is fine with me because their bone collector leather sheaths suck. Also, does anyone have any knowledge or first hand experience with this "diamond wood?" It sounds like it could either be super cool and a trend setter or be super cheap and crappy.

Okay so i just found out that all the knives in the hunt lineup are going to be made with s30v steel. I know some people are upset with that decision but i love s30v so thats fine with me.

One of the only original lone wolf designs left is in the third reincarnation. The H&K Scorch/Scorch Code 3 are modeled after a lone wolf knife that Benchmade also released under their lone wolf line.

I really like the "Hunt" series. Yes, they are all S30V. If you get the G-10 scales, it comes with a Kydex sheath. If you get the Dyamondwood, it comes with a leather sheath... The MSRP on these is $150ish.

They are also bringing out some folders in the series. I really like two of them, with the Dyamondwood scales. They are also S30V, and come in two sizes. Whats really interesting is that they are lockbacks. I actually really like lockbacks. As much as I like the Axis lock, it's nice to see them offer something different, and I'm sure they did them right...
The MSRP on the folders is $130ish, so these really aren't priced that bad imho.

Dyamondwood is nothing new. Buck has been using it for years. It is durable and stable. Benchmades version looks completely different though. I like it...

The 2014 catalog is now online, and all the new knives are in it. It's PDF, and for some reason it was really slow to load earlier today. Not sure what the problem was

The fixed blade knives are from the Bone Collector series. The 15020 and 15030 folding Axis lock knives are gone, replaced by two other Axis lock knives with more traditional-shaped blades. Dymondwood is tough as nails and a good choice for handle material. It comes in many colors, but I notice that Benchmade is only using it in traditional wood colors. S30V is fine, but I think I would have preferred they stick with D2, as it is tougher than S30V and holds its edge just as long (or longer). Of course, it can also be harder to sharpen.

The two lockbacks are carry-over from the Bone Collector series: 15050 and 15055, with D2 blades. Same options on handle color, but the BC series used cocobolo for the wood. Looks exactly the same except for the Bone Collector logo.

Thanks... It's amazing how much better the knife looks without the BC logo :D
