I am lucky to have for friend "Sam" Samuel Lurquin. Further to our first meeting, and with my some knowledge in computing I decided to create him his website.

Liking photography I suggested him photographing its knives.

On every meeting with Sam, I always have my equipment photo with me. And from time to time he sends to me a knife for a photography session.
Recently I was lucky to have during a day this Hunter

Enjoy...

Damas & African BlackWood...Blade 11cm + 4 5/16" , Total length : 24cm 9 7/16"

An information, this knife is not for sale...;)

Excellent design, beautifully rendered.

Sam is an artist and a wonderfully skilled craftsman. Also a fine gentleman.

Simple and beautiful. That knife doesn't need a single thing more than it has.

Roger

Yes, Samuel makes nice knives, and this is a fine specimen!

Kind regards,

Jos

I met samuel at this past blade show, he is a talented new maker and a heck of a nice guy! I look forward to getting one of his knives in the future ;)

Jeff

You are right, it's a nice guy, but it is not realy a new knifemaker, he makes knives since at least 2006.

A photo of its first knife : 08/2006

That's a wonderful first knife. Thanks for posting that -- I hadn't seen it. So Sam's knife career is five years old this month--even though we've only known about him on this side of the Atlantic for a year or so. He's definitely a rising star.

Someone had little beforehand , Joe discovered his work in 2007 Solingen, Germany

WOW, for real !!
Really dig every Samuel Lurquin knife I've had the pleasure of viewing.
Thanks, Berno !

WOW!!!!
I got a quick look at this beauty last night on my little Droid screen and thought that's nice. Not that I see it full size, that is
an amazing hunter.

Thanks for sharing it!!!!

That is a nice little hunter fo' sure. Kevin, I'll say it again. As nuts as you are about forged blades, you should really take a mini-vacation to one of the European shows like Gembloux at some point and check out what the crazy cousins are doing over there..:D

Sam's blackwood hunter is awesome! Great damascus, blade profile and the handle looks comfy.

I agree Joe, there's outstanding knives being made in Europe and all over the world for that matter.
The problem is there's just too many knife shows and too little time.

But seriously, like the thread I started a while back questioning if we were entering a "Golden Age" for custom knives. There's just so much talent out there and so many great knives being created today. It's like as soon as you see a new knife that totally blows you away, then there's another.

These are great times for custom knife makers and collectors.

Newer in the states I guess, I def didn't think his first knife made for this past bladeshow ;)
That is why BF and knife shows are so important to see what is out there!

Lucky us!

Jeff
