Hey folks, first post here, and I have a question about a knife I have in my collection. I bought it many years ago on an auction. The box is marked "1003-SER clipit Hunter right hand-serrated edge" I had forgotten I even had it and am now trying to get info on this model and a possible value. I believe it is a CO3PS model, but when I googled the "1003-ser" and Spyderco I did not find anything. I have a few Spyderco knives, but this is the only one I still have in the box and original wrapper. I am NOT looking to sell this, but am assessing my collection for my home owners insurance. It appears to have never been used at all, and I know I have never carried it or cut anything with it since buying it in 95 or so. The blade is marked Spyderco with Seki-Japan with a patent number on the clip and no logo at all. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide. This forum is something I cannot believe I have never signed up for previously being a knife collector and user for the better part of three decades. Cheers!!!

Spyderco's original model numbering system was the "1000" series numbers. That was later changed to the current system. Your 1003 Hunter is an older specimen of what generally referred to as a C03 Hunter. The right hand serrated version is the most common. The Hunter does not have a huge collector following, so values tend to stay fairly low. For insurance purposes I'd say $125, simply because things always seem to be more expensive when you need to replace them. I doubt you'd get much more than $75 if you went to sell it.

Thanks for the info from both of you!!! Is there a way to tell how early it is? Any special markings, etc?
