Just finished this order for a hunting knife. The customer was wanting an antiqued blade. Its got a 5 3/4" L-6 blade, iron fittings and sambar stag handle. Its 10 1/2" overall. Its also got one of my two ply cowhide sheaths.

Cool Knife Ray.
The iron fittings and antiqued blade go together real nice.
Nice sheath too.

Thanks guys! Just been doing what I like doing. I don't do many orders but when I do I usually like to make two blades and let the customer choose which one he likes best. I've been working on the other blade now. Its not quite as pointy as this one. I'm not going to put a patina on it. With both the blades being L-6 I was surprised to see temper lines on both blades. I think a lot of that is the result of doing three thermal cycles. I should have the other knife done sometime next week. Glad you all liked the sheath as well.

AWESOME package Ray. The knife looks to be what the customer ordered, and that sheath really raises the bar on leather forming!

Great Job Ray, I'm glad to see you finally got back to work after your Arkansas vacation. :p:D

Superlatives abound for this one. Great job Ray. It was nice to meet you in Little Rock. Do you make a sheath for each one the customer gets to choose from?

Chris, I just made the one sheath from the customers input. I had one similar that he liked to work off of.

Bill, I'm finally starting to get it in gear after Little Rock. Trying to get ready for OKCA now. Need to make some new fishing bait.

Your work is awesome.
If I might ask, how is the ring on the finial done. Do you weld it or solder it shut or is it just pinched closed?
Darcy:)

Darcy, Normally I will weld the ring shut but since I am out of acetylene I used propane and oxygen and brazed the ring shut with bronze. I just can't get a good weld with propane and oxygen. This was the first time I did the brazing and it worked great beside saving me a trip to get the bottles exchanged and the cost. The acetylene seems to go up in price faster than gasoline.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I think I`ll try high temp silver solder.......been wanting to try a ring end like that for a long time.
Darcy:)

That's a great hunter and sheath Ray. I like the ring as well.

Hope we get to see the other "less pointy" sibling too.
