Just received this hunter/utility by Fabian Damanet. Fabian is a young Belgian knifemaker with a lot of potential IMO.
The blade is Wootz (smelted and forged by the maker), it is flat ground and has 5". Overall length is a tad under 10".
The guard is bronze with hammered front (nice touch). The handle is stabilized birch wood.
It is very sharp, probably my sharpest right now. The blade looks nicer in person, it's really hard to photograph for me.
Very good ergonomics, fit and finish.

Flava,
Looks nice,congrats.
The wootz sounds interesting.
Does he have a website?

Yes, www.wootz.be but it's very basic, contains an email, phone number and knife photo gallery only. Browsing the gallery lets you see his work but you won't really know which knives are old or recent.

That is a very nice hunter. Would fit me well. I like the treatement and material of the guard. The beads are a nice touch too. Only thing I prefer is to have 2 pins as one just looks lonely.

Very nice! I've seen Fabian doing forging demonstrations. Very interesting. He makes nice, practical knives.

Regards,

Jos

Very nice flava. Lots of good stuff going on.
Wootz blade is subtile but interesting.
Nice grain in the birch.
The hammered guard flat adds a very nice touch.

That's a very nice hunter. I've been fond of wootz since I first saw it.

There are many other fine knives on his website.
