Here's an order I just finished for a customer. He wanted a smaller tough knife for hunting and general field use. He didn't want to worry about the handle getting wet or bloody or have it crack or move. So this is what I chose.

Specs:
1080+ steel, clay quenched
7 1/8" overall, 3" blade .170" at the ricasso
Black carbon fiber bolsters, dove-tailed
Silver g-10 scales
Black micarta pins
Tapered tang
False edge not sharp
Twisted rope thumb grip

There is some really interesting cloudy/cracked ice looking activity all around the transition zone. Hard to capture in a pic though, at least for me.

The customer wanted some grip in the thumb area of the spine but he didn't want the usual straight lines of a checkering file. He wanted something more decorative so I tried a section of twisted rope.

That's a very fine hunter. I can see the same knife, with stainless pins in front and a stainless thong liner in back.
