That describes me at the moment. I haven't been hunting since our first son was born many many years ago. But next November, I'll be out there chasing the big bucks once again. To tell the truth, my desire to shoot one of them there fellas is pretty much gone. But my desire to have the sweetest knife in camp is raging!

Do you all have any recommendations?

Try one of Bob Dozier's knives. I own and use his Yukon Pro Skinner... one awesome hunting knife! He also makes a Slim Outdoorsman and a couple of other models that look like they would be great users as well.

Rob Simonich's Talonite Cetan is also a great hunting knife.

Either knife will stay sharp long enough to process several large deer before resharpening. Both makers are great guys and offer superb fit, finish, sheaths & service.

Mr. Dave,

You don't say what you'll be hunting next November, but here are a couple of ideas...

walkabout-thumb.jpg

The Walkabout - ATS-34, Australian Cyprus handles, Dovetailed bolster, Nickel Silver Pins.

special-thumb.jpg

The Special - D-2, Rosewood Burl, Brass guard. (this knife is in this months Tactical Knives magazine, as is the skinner below)

The Shenandoah Skinner - ATS-34 (this one has been sold, but I have another blade ready for handles.

Some other of my knives can be seen at the webpage below.

Let me know if I can help you with your plans.

Take care,
Bob

Dave, you've gotten some sweet suggestions here, but if you want the sweetest I have to agree with Vel. JA Lonewolf makes a knife that looks too pretty to use, but that's just what they beg for. Hand forged Damascus, scrimshaw or carved handles at prices most makers charge for plain handles and ATS34.

Take a L@@k

Dave,

Gotta agree with Phil and Vel on the Lonewolf. It will do you proud and you will be proud to own it.
