Here's a drop point hunter that I will be taking to the show in Missoula Friday. This is my first experience with koa and I'm liking it a lot. This piece has a TON of figure, curl and chatoyance that, as many others have noted, you can't catch in a picture.
This is nice and light and thin, measuring only 1/2" across the back of the guard. It also has a very thin keen edge. Things that I feel are important in a hunting knife.
Specs:
Hand-forged from 1084
8 3/4" overall, 4" blade .190" thick at the ricasso
Heavily rounded spine and ricasso edge for comfort
German silver guard and spacer
Coined spacer collar
Curly Koa handle, stabilized
Held together with a hidden bolt on the butt end. I didn't want to put a pin in the koa.
