I picked these up over the last few months and didn't take pics until recently.

The Gann is 52100 and Black Ash burl with a stacked NS guard, 4 1/4 blade with a 3 1/2 edge, 8 1/4 overall. Beautiful hand rubbed blade finish, balance at the guard and excellent fit and finish. Topped off with a well made sheath which is always a nice addition.

Next is a 52100 and Ironwood drop point hunter from Burt Foster. I purchased this 2nd hand and it does have some staining on the blade.

I have been fortunate to own a few hunters by Burt and also handled some owned by friends on this forum. Burt does superb work in my opinion. Fit and finish is exceptional. The handle contours melt into my hand. Small details set Burt apart, an example being the guard which is slightly upswept at the top providing a sturdy resting point for your thumb. Burt also provides an excellent sheath on par with custom sheathmakers.

Blade is 4 inches with an edge of 3 5/8, overall length is 8 1/2.

Both are very nice but I really like the handle on the Foster

Nice hunters! I agree about Burt's sheathwork, it's outstanding.

Congrats on some fine aquisitions.

Matt, I'll vote for the Foster as the best hunter for 2009.
I've never seen one of Burt's hunters with so much forward belly. Very nice.

The Gann is a classy piece too-you sure can pick them!

That's a great duo. The Gann has really clean lines and gorgeous wood. I quite like the absence of a dropped edge on Burt's piece - gives it a very lean profile.

Two excellent examples of ABS Hunters.
Not hard to imagine why some collectors focus their collections on this style knife.

Both fine knives and I like the wood on each.

Had the pleasure of working the CKCA booth with Tommy on Sunday morning at Blade. A fine gentleman who I enjoyed talking with very much.
