actually, HFTH is pretty popular in southeast. Especially amongst farmers, I used to run a commecial farm and we would shoot hogs every morning and take them to HFTH. As many as we donated I'm not sure if there are any hungry people left in south GA but it kept them out of the crops ( mostly) and it makes you feel pretty good to take in a truckload and know that everyone in line is getting meat today.
I don't know about everywhere but down here you don't even have to field dress them, the volunteers( I think they are volunteers) will do it for you.
I agree it's a neat idea and a great cause. I've always been a proponent of cleaning up your own back yard first and this is definately one way of doing it. Plus, it's another excuse to get in the woods.
