This may be the wrong forum and if so I'm sorry but I posted it in the Community Center and nobody responded.

It's gettin to be that time of year again and I want to hear some of ya'lls hunting stories. Whether you were takin your kids out for their first hunt or whether it was your one-hundredth hunt it doesnt matter to me. The type of game you were hunting also doesnt matter. Pictures are of course more than welcome. Thanks guys.

I went deer hunting this past weekend with my black powder rifle, seen 12 on sat and 8 on sun, only seen 1 big buck but he stayed on the other end of the field with a few does and never did give my a clear shot.

I hunt from this little building, it's about 20 feet high.

This is the only field on my farm where I hunt.

OK a little different here, sorry no pics
Last month I was hunting moose in northern BC (place called Pink Mountain), I was walking up a cut-line when it came to an intersection with another cut-line. I looked up the cut-line and sitting in the middle of it about 20 to 25 feet away was a bobcat. I put my binoculars on it to make sure it wasn't a lynx.
We stared at each other for well over a minute, then all of a sudden he spins sideways and looks like he going to charge straight at me. He sort of freezes in the ready to charge position. I can verify that ghost ring sites come up real nice, I didn't want to shoot him, I said 'hey there" in a deep voice but he couldn't care less.
Since I didn't want to shoot, I slowly started going back up the cut-line the way I came. When I got about 75 feet up the trail the bobcat came around the corner and started to follow me up the cut-line. It matched my pace, I went about 200 yards up the trail with him pacing me then I lost him behind a rise in the trail. Didn't see him again, I guess he was just making sure I knew who the cock of the walk was.
Looked for him over the next 5 days but didn't see him again.

I was hunting wild pigs in the Central Coast area of CA. Only time I've ever hunted with a guide. We spotted about a 180 lb. sow being harassed by some coyotes. The 'yotes saw us and took off but the sow didn't see us and went down a valley through thick brush. The guide peeked over the brush and whispered "get ready, she's doubling back on that trail just to your right". I think she thought the noise she heard (us) was the coyotes and turned back to run them off.

The hog rounded a bush about six feet from the end of my rifle barrel and had one of those "oh sh_t!" looks. I put a 225 gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw through her shoulder and she rolled about 40 ft. down the hill. Amazingly, she immediately got up running and it took a second shot to shut her down.

Wild hogs are damn tough! [And this one was delicious too.]

Following on the bobcat theme, the next day we spotted a bobcat that was twice normal size. As tall as a mountain lion, though not as long. The guide said that in all his years he'd never seen one more that half its size. Quite a sight. Wish I'd had a camera.

My uncle took me quail hunting one time, with borrowed dogs. He was teaching me. Soon one of the dogs straightened out all stiff like. My Uncle says "there, hes pointing one now" then a turd fell out.

Last year, I went hunting with a rifle I had just gotten from my dad the other day. The first day ended with not even a sighting. Some cows had spoiled it when they all came out from water all loud, just about ready to shoot one of in the face, but that wouldn't go to well with the land's owner.

The next mourning we got up at 5 and headed back out to the deer stand. My rifle had not properly been sighted in yet by the way....we waited about an hour or two and saw some does around at about 7. I got really excited and took a shot. I missed. They ran off but came back. A good texas sized 8 point came into the scene, my heart was pumping. I waited about 10min for something bigger, but wanted to get this one. I took a shot. Missed. This was youth weekend so I got to hunt a weekend early before they were all gunshy. They flinched and were startle but went back to the feeder. I took my third shot. The buck went down.

I'd like to go hunting this year, but I'm not sure if it'll happen. My brother in law has talked about bow hunting, that'd be a pretty cool experiance.

Haven't hunted wild birds in 3 years, but for some reason I rescued a GSP and have him about finished. So I will chase birds, probably a week in S Dakota. No need to hunt deer, a buds kids bring me at least 2 a year. But, I am going to Uruguay in may to shoot ducks, geese, doves , pigeons & perdiz, does that count?

The bobcat I saw was very grey in colour and very large for a bobcat, I wish I had a camera when it happened
