I haven't been that far north, but even in northern ohio it gets cold during the mornings of gun season. Was around zero a few mornings last year and sitting on a metal tree stand in the dark just wasn't much fun...
I like carhart bibs, with the regular quilted insulation. They will help keep you dry as well as warm, and don't bind or add to much bulk around your shoulders to make it hard to shoulder a gun. Also have lots of pockets for ammo, knives, tags etc.
For a coat I've been using an arctic weight carhart. It has a cordura shell which is water proof and is very warm without being too thick. I prefer a heavy coat, to wearing a million layers because it can be shed easily to field dress or if you get too warm, and put back on just as quickly.
When its really cold I wear under armour cold gear as a base layer, but for the most part its just jeans, long sleeve shirt and carharts. I suppose I would be cooler if I got a bunch of camo-guide master-scent lock-buckslayer hunting clothes, but the carharts do the trick and I use them for working outdoors all winter.
You'll really want to take a look at your boots before going up there though. Goretex is great for snow and the occasional creek crossing, and you'll want something warm and comfortable. I wear steel toes every year and regret it, maybe this year I'll buy some new boots.
