Since this is the time of year most states are into the big game hunting seasons I thought it would be neat to see some of the guns and hunting knives people use. International members show your stuff as well. Since I live in a shotgun only county, this is what I use on Maryland's only big game, whitetail deer. It's the TC Encore with a 20 gauge rifled slug barrel. I shoot Winchester Platinum Tip slugs. My knives include an O1 hunter with stag handles, Winchester large trapper and my SAK. These knives get rotated with others. I change knives like my underwear.:D My SAK is a mainstay. Let's see what you've got if you're a hunter.

Excellent thread idea! Eastern Ontario, .50 Lyman Great Plains Hunter flintlock, Grohmann Mini Skinner (which does double duty as a patch knife), Grohmann No.1 Original Design, Victorinox Rucksack (my EDC) and a Gerber MultiPlier.

My No. 4 fly rod (7' 6", two piece) and Opinel fillet knife.

Not a gun, but still an instrument of sport...

Hey Razorback, is that the Swisschamp XL, it's about the largest SAK I've ever seen. Great setup you've got there. What's the deal with that shotgun only thing anyway. I'm from a small town in NH originally and there anything goes. When I first went out to Wisconsin to go to school I had a bunch of friends who went hunting every year and said they were only allowed to use SG's. Is it to prevent bullet travel in populated areas?

Sorry to get OT there.

Yes, you're correct. It's the population in a given area. The Eastern shore and Western Maryland are about the only places you can hunt with a rifle.:grumpy: It sucks because where I live, the capability of 300 to 500 yard shots are very real. I'm going hunting tomorrow and I will post a pic of an area on the 300 acre farm I hunt to show you what I mean. I've hunted ground hogs with a 222 rem., 223 rem, 22-250 rem, 25 06 rem and even a 270 win on this farm, but the law says no rifles for deer in my county. BTW, yes that's the Swiss Champ XL, and I love it.

Lagarto, here's a pic of one areas on the farm I hunt. 300 yd shots, like I said are very real there.

Thanks Razorback, I feel for you. The family friends where I spent Thanksgiving in Wisconsin owned a place like that, but a lot more wild, not many people around either, but still only SG's and Muzzleloaders allowed. I never could see the sense, the nearest neighbor was a mile away.
