I'm looking for a new hunting knife, mainly used for deer, and am thinking about getting a Helle. Options include Fjellkniven, Harding, Eggen. I haven't found a whole lot of reviews about these regarding Helle's in general. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks.

Cant tell you anymore than I seen, but, The helle harding was a very popular knife for moosehunting and general outdorslife here in sweden some 10 years ago. It has a good edge and curve, a nice handle with fingerprotection and a high quality userfriendly sheat. I recon the other ones to be rather simular. As soon as you have bought it and started using it making your hand adapting how to grip it they all should be fine. Here in Sweden we have had this overwhelming trend to use the mora 2000 and this is probobly the reason the helle harding isnt seen often anymore.

I've got a Harding, great for rabbits and fish, never hunted deer, so I don't know about that...but it's an all round great knife, you won't be dissapointed, the sheath is also excellent.

The blade comes quite sharp out of the box, and it retains its edge very well. I also do a bit of woodcarving, the edge holds up to that nicely. The handle fits my hand perfectly, the grip is well rounded with no real hot spots (carving use) and it won't slip out of your hand with normal use. Blade shape and factory edge profile is quite good, I can use it for food prep (slicing etc...), skinning, gutting, carving, shaving (wood), the point even stands up to some drilling. Imo you won't be dissapointed with any Helle knife.
