Here's a question for all you knife scholars out there.
Reading the ultimate fighting knife thread made me think, how did the phrase "hunting knife" come about? It seems now it's used generically to describe a knife carried by a hunter for field dressing and skinning. I would say it goes back to when people actually hunted for food with a knife or other edged implement. Any thoughts on this?
