Last weekend I went hunting mountain goats with my fiance. It was her first time hunting in the alpine. We spent two nights up on the mountain.

Here is a pic on the hike up:

It got pretty chilly the first night. I slept with most of my cothes on and was chilly in my down North Face Blue Kazoo rated to -9 C. Christel slept in the Tagia One-Thousand-and-One Nights down bag rated to -18 C and was toasty:

Some flowers that have gone to seed, and look like something from Dr Seuss:

Great pictures and cool hunt. Lucky man to have a woman that will go hunting with him. What round do you shoot in your Remington 600?

How do goats climb rocky cliffs and mountains with hooves? That amazes me.

Nice close up photo of that beautiful animal.

Nice close up photo of that beautiful animal.

Their hooves are sharp on the edges and further in they are softer and leathery. They can literally go striaght up and down rock faces if they desire.

I can't remeber wether Christel took that pic with the zoom on the camera or through the spotter....

Russ - the meat has excellent flavor, but in my experience is usually chewy. The meat from this one is goign into sausages. It took me awhile to warm up to wearing a neck knife, but know I like'm.

Jeff - that 600 came to me wearing a pitted 308 barrel. It got changed out for a custom stainless. Last year I had the action GunKoted. The stock in pillar & glass bedded, and hollowed out behind the butt pad. It is my mountain rifle and is nice to pack at 7.0lbs including the scope & rings.

Great stuff Bruce, I bet those horns would make a great handle for a rustic style knife !

That looks like a perfect hunt. Well done.
