It has been a very busy Summer & Fall here, just haven't had time to post much. :( But I have tried to keep up with what's been happening!
Anyway it is or was recently hunting season here in the good old USA. So I figured I would post a few photos of this latest hunt.
My son came up from Kentucky for a upland bird hunt. We got lucky & ran into most every upland bird Eastern Montana has to offer. We ended up with a couple Turkeys, Sharp Tails, Huns & of course Pheasants.
Because it was hunting season I took along a Queen Gunstock pocket knife for the cleaning chores.
Please feel free to add your hunting or gunstock pic's.
Thanks,
Dave

Sorry can't get 1 pic to rotate! :grumpy:

Gosh,
The only pheasant hunt I ever went on was on a club ranch, and the birds were planted. They did not spring too well either. The ones that were missed, and we hunted a second time seemed a bit better. It was great working with a professional dog. Gracie (pic in my signature) there tries to catch the spent shells from my 12 ga. as I attempt to shoot dove. It is hard to focus on a fast moving target while giggling. I think she is addicted to gun powder now.

Your photos brought back memories for me, thanks! Great fun.

Nice harvest Dave! And a pleasure to do it with one's son!!

knowtracks,

Good to see you back again.. Pheasants are a blast! The color of yours bring back some good memories of my last Pheasant hunt way back many moons ago in the Williamsburg, PA area. I don't get to do any of that around here so this was a real treat seeing these pix of yours..

BTW, what type of shotguns and ammo loads were you and your son using on this hunt?

Anthony

Nice photos.
How long are the blades on the Gunstock model? It is no longer available in stag, but I believe that it is still around in jigged bone and Zebrawood.

Hi,

Very nice Gunstock. And hunting them ditch chickens make for some fine memories and eating too.:) Watching my Springers work out a trail for sometimes several hundred yards before putting the bird to flight is a dance I never tire of.

I don't have a Gunstock myself, but small traditionals are my choice dressing birds and general use while out hunting.

My new favorite: A RR small San Mai lockback. I don't know what steel was used or who made the blades, but 440A it ain't. It's done a dozen wild ducks and 10 roosters so far.

My other favorite hunting knife: This knife is always on my belt when afield. A Case Gunboat.

great pics... pheasants are delicious.. it's been years since i have shot one...:o

Thanks for the comments & the added pic's! I love seeing hunting photos.
The Gunstock shown is Queen's #40, 3 1/2" closed w/ 3" clip main & 2 1/4" pen blades. It has Carved bone scales w/ D-2 blade steel.
For Anthony, I use an older Remington model 870 Wingmaster, 12 gauge pump w/ #6 shot. Sometimes #4 or 5's for Turkeys. My son was using my fathers shotgun a 20 gauge, double barrel Miroku made in Japan. Also w/ #6 shot.
Enjoy the outdoors!!
