Hunting report

Looks good Jeff. Don't eat to much of that fried stuff or your chest will look like that one on the goose.

Ah, backstrap!! I just finished deboning two this afternoon, so I'm looking forward to some soon as well.

Nice lookin buck there, I got my first deer this year, got a small doe, skinned it up with my trusty 110.

Hawk,Thats a nice 8pt. w/ a wide spread . Thanks for sharing the photos w/ us .
Did you teach the boys how to process their deer ? DM

Zach, These guys started out just like you did. They shot does, and still do..One has a Buck 119,and both have foldening hunters of another brand.

David, thanks yes been trying to show them what I know.;)

Nate, sometimes we cook the steaks on the grill for 3 min.on each side.
But fried is good as well.

Tin Sue and Flat.. It's not back strap. It is off the rump cut up
into little steaks and tenderizes. It sure is good with gravey.
My girls like it and say it's better than DairyQueen strips.:D

When I was a little duffer, Dad used to do rump cuts fried as well.
Called it "Wild Turkey Surprise" and "Fried Turtle" so we'd eat it.
I guess he thought the notion of eating Bambi was to much for us. But "Fried Turtle?"
Tickles me to this day!

My favorite venison recipe is what we traditionally call MobleyPobleyiano--don't ask me what it means. I think my father-in-law made it up, but it's fried venison steaks simmered and simmered and simmered in tomatoes, green chili's, onions, and in a cast iron skillet. Serve it over a bed of rice, first choice, home fried spuds, second choice. Not too shabby............

Jack, That sounds good . Flat, I've eaten much fried loggerhead and its good . Had some turtle soup as well its good too but in East Tex. you don't put it on the table unless its fried . DM

You all are just flat tearun me up as now I have to take some Ven. out of the freezer for in the mornin for Bis, & Grav. $ Veni. --- boy my Dr. sure is gonna luv me !! No fried foods my foot..!! What Blood/Pressure.!! LOL Hey you only live once so why beat around the bush when you can just go fer it.! Bye.

Cool Deal Hawkeye!!!

I need to get off my duff and move some pics out of the laptop and make a post here.

Just got back home night before last and have been up to my ears in stuff.

But I did thaw and consume a batch of deer soup (as the granddaughters called it when they were smaller). That crock pot sure makes em tinder.

I am going to have to copy Jacks recipe !! ;)

Another twist,,, as I was grinding up some bambi for mom, she got this bright idea of running some honey oat bread through the grinder with the meat, adding some spices in with it, mixed it up some and ran it through the grinder again. After I sealed that batch, she wrote on it what I will need to add to it to make a bambi meatloaf, and sent it home with me :eek:.

I am going to have to cook it up soon and give her a report. I better not screw it up...lol.
I can see some grinder experiments in my future :rolleyes::D

Gladitor,J.B.4570, I don't eat the fried deer meat near as much as I did 15 years ago.;)

Make a lot of deer chili with out any fat.

Jack , I will have to try that as well.Sounds good.

Pack Rat , glad you made it off the plato and back to the city.

Oh yea, David M. Where I am from Real men Fry fish and all meat.:D;)

Flat, my girls don't eat chili that is not made with deer meat.

I used my Plain Jane Buck 112 to help the nephews clean there deer.:)

Darn, all this sounds good to me . Remember mother knows best and keep the venison recipes coming . DM

Hawk, did you bone or quarter w/ the 112 too ?
