Hunting season prep with my two favorite dogs

In the last 9 months my fiancé and I have built a house on my family farm and in the midst of that planned a wedding that will be here in three weekends. All of this has put me a little (way) behind on my hunting season prep. no food plots, no trail cams, very minimal scouting so this year I'm winging it and will take what is given during the season but I still have my hopes up for a bear. Now that we are moved in it is easier to get in the woods on the farm though so I'm doing some last minute prep for this season and getting ahead of the game for next season. I decided to build a brush blind on ledge that over looks a creek bottom with lots of bear sign and a normal flow of deer so here are some pictures from the day I spent working on this location.

The two dogs I spoke of...one my buddy Wrigley and the other is my recently acquired 1311 that has already earned a permanent place in my armory

My vantage point....still a little limbing left to do that I couldn't reach but if you notice the green area on the far side of the limbs it is very open

notice the creek down the steep banks to the left

the start of my brush blind....still needs more work

gear shot

the trail out across the ridge line and trail markers

water break!!

1311 in its natural habitat

very small dings in the blade despite hitting the ground while chopping small trees and some rocks

sharpened, cleaned and lubed

and Wrigley was too wore out to make it 7 more feet to his bed

then there is this guy who was patiently waiting in the safe for opening day

Condolences..err,... I mean congratulations on the wedding.

Nice pics, have a great season..best of luck w/ the bear.

Nice dog...Australian Shepard?

Your Wrigley looks just like my Paul Wheeler the Blue Heeler. I have five Blue Heelers, the mom and dad and three boys I kept from the first litter. Paul aka Coon, Merkey aka Diesel, Zip, Dingo, and Barker aka Sir Barks alot. Oh yeah, nice machete.

Great post, nice pics! Who did your regrind?
Love heelers,,, had them growing up and my dad still has one. As smart as they are tough,,, I'm definitely partial to blues, although my friend did have a red growing up

Love the pics, that's a great looking dog that looks quite happy!

Looks like you have a sweet set up there! Good luck  Congrats on the upcoming wedding :D

he is sharp and hangs with me no matter what. im amazed at how much he has learned to be a year and a half old. I stripped and forced the patina on the 1311 myself, as well as sharpened it.

thanks, he loves to be out and about

thanks Pokey!!

What she^^^^ said!:D:thumbup:
thanks Tom

You should do great, the biggest thing keeping you from killing a deer IMO is the voodoo of having a sharp knife ready and waiting.

Congrats!
Deer will be no problem, the bear is the challenge. I will have to skin a deer or two with the scrapper 5 I got off of you as well to see how it measures up to the pride and joy of my collection

That's a good looking dog.

Love the 1311, and definitely love the HG55 as well.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the bear. Looking forward to seeing that thread later.
