Hello, I am a newbie to the forum who has been a knife lover and "collector" since I was boy, but not an expert by any means. I was looking for a rock solid fixed blade knife that would double as a good hunting knife (deer/elk/bear) and a survival knife if the need ever arose. I know that there are many quality manufacturers out there, but I came down between TOPS and Entrek.

I bought a TOPS Lone Falcone at a Gun Show yesterday because I thought the price was very competitive. I would like to know if what the folks here think about this knife for the purpose I described and if not suitable, would appreciate a recommendation of what is thought to be best. If it was a bad choice, I can still return it; the seller is a company local to me.

Thanks!

 I'm a newbie to the forum also, but can tell you this. You know what you want to do with the knife, you saw it, hefted it, made a decision to buy it and plunked down the cash for the knife. The only way you'll know for sure if the knife is right, is to get out in the field and try it out. If it pleases you, don't worry about what others say. As far as survival goes, the best tool you have is your brain. If you've got a quaility brain, you'll do alright.
