I was having a fit over gas prices but i just ride my Harley instead of the 4x4. My collector backed out of the deal because his condo got hit and he is making plans to upgrade his suite. OH Well!!! At least he wasnt in it. Putting the folders up for sale in the folder area.
I think I might go south and hire out for security work. Guard red cross nurses and supply stores. Might even get to tangle with a few looters :D  . :D

My Daughter in-law is heading there with the red cross next thursday. I hope she doesnt get in over her head and can handle it. She is only getting 2 days of training and off she goes.

We didnt get the destruction up this far but the economy is already feeling it.Donna went to the grocery store today and said they were almost completely out of canned goods and stuff like that, which is what is being needed south of us.But heck if we run out of food what are we going to do.Funny situation, guess we will just let the Lord figure it all out for us.

Dont feel bad about the order canciling,I also had a customer cancel after I finished the first of four Bowies he ordered, put me in a tight for now,but oh well had this happen after 911 and survived.

I had people come thru here this weekend that were headed for Iraq but were
diverted to help out down south. I think they felt better about helping there own people here than heading over seas. God knows those folks in Iraq need all the help they can get. Where to go, who to help? Thats a tough spot to be in. Fred

Here's a surprising quirk...

I was out looking for a gas can for my new chainsaw (yeah Dan, I finally bought one to replace that Homeylite.) There is not a gas can to be found anywhere in Houston or ANY of the surrounding towns!

The folks from Louisiana that are/were here bought ALL of them.

I was eating at a "greasy spoon" last Friday and a guy from Louisiana comes in looking for a job. He was hired that afternoon. That is just the tip of the iceberg...

We'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers Bruce.
Hate to think that anybody would bite the hand that feeds them, but the actions of a few down there have really shocked me so far. I can understand why you're nervous. It does look like the good guys have got the upper hand now.
I had to laugh this morning when a news reporter called new orleans the safest city in america due to "the huge number of automatic weapons on the streets". The same idiots spewing stuff about how guns are bad, are now saying that guns are keeping people safe. I doubt they ever make the connection that its really honest people that haven't been disarmed and hog tied, ready to make a stand that keeps people safe. Thats another rant though.

We haven't really seen too many effects up here so far aside from the gas prices. There are a number of folks from down south being brought up here and given housing and jobs. I'm wondering how that will effect the job market, as its been a little tight lately anyhow. We have a generous country and I'm sure everyone will make due.
I kind of wish I could get down there and do something, but its not really an option. Seems like thats how it goes. Our group here in shoptalk as a whole would be really well suited for this kind of thing. Everybody is so resourceful, works with their hands, can build just about anything. An we've got a bunch of straight shooting rednecks too :D Seems like we're the folks that are always tied down with jobs and commitments trying to get by though.

Thanks for the Prayers Matt! She will need every one of them. I can see there will be allot of volunteers for months to come but there are so many dissplaced victims that could and will step up to help out. Its a disaster but people have a habit of overcoming anything.

Good for all of you in the States, stay strong!
A LOT of folks up here in Canada are thinking of you.
Bless your daughter-in-law Bruce, there are not many angels left.
