Hurricane Ike Pics of Crystal Beach and Bolivar Peninsula

I still can't get into the mainland of Galveston, but I got to ride out with some friends the long way around (no ferry) to check on their beach house.

First pic was before Ike, second is the empty slab that remains. All the rest are just random carnage including whole houses lifted up and smashed into grocery stores.

We never did find the actual house, the storm surge must have swept it across the highway or smashed it to pieces.

No problem, I live in between Houston and Galveston and I was blessed to have very minor damage aside from no power for 8 days. I evacuated to Kansas because I knew things were going to get ugly around here.
