I found this website with aerial shots of the Hurricane afflicted areas. They are truly disturbing. Nature's power is truly amazing, in the most frightening way.

Be warned...though not blood and guts, the images are definitely a look at some mass scale devestation. Some areas look ok...others are completely wrecked.

Also, the images are gigantic...so for those on dial-up, this will take a long time.

amazing photos...thanks for the link.

The college where I'm teaching a class is talking about offering free tuition to any of the estimated 100,000 displaced college students from that area - so they can continue their education....because the truth is, it will be a long time before they get back.

Just something you don't really think of, when you see disasters like this. Most of the focus has been on displaced residents....but consider the thousands of businesses affected, government/civil organizations, transportation systems, etc.

Imagine what it would be like if in your town, two-thirds of the workforce decided to all take a month (or more) vacation at the same time?

We can see how bad it is, but really have no idea how much worse it is going to get....:(
