Many prayers for all in the path of another monster storm. Talked to my cousin in Houston this morning and they have tried to evacuate yesterday but the lines of traffic and shortage of gasoline forced them to go back home. So they, like many will ride this out. His 2 young daughters are afraid and really, he is too. After Hugo-I don't know if I could take that caliber of a storm like this again. God be with you. I'm scared enough for everybody I think. To all our Texas and gulf states that have been ravaged...hang in there.

The levees are already spilling water back into New Orleans. The next couple of days are sure to be dreadful if only for the worrying and waiting. Hang in there, folks in Texas, we're all pulling for you.

The whole situation is terrible. I pray for the people in the storms path everytime I watch the news. I've said time and again, it isn't always as easy to get out as the people on the news make it seem. I really don't understand why they didn't turn the east highways into west running highways to allow a faster exodus. The idea that some of these poor people may experience the storm in their cars stuck in traffic is gut wrenching.

Prayers, prayers, and more prayers for everyone who will be affected by this oversized bully.

We have friends who were stuck in that mess, and they were trying to organize a possee which included construction contractors to sledge/jackhammer the retaining walls separating the two sides of I-45, thus, opening their own contraflow. They figured the inbounders would get it once they saw the approaching traffic. It never came about because they did end up opening the southbound lanes to north bound traffic about an hour later.

There was still a problem because the contraflow DOES have to end somewhere down the road and just compresses the mess further up towards Huntsville. Although it does get people farther inland.
